Album Review By Dell Waring
Though Slash has released albums with “Slash’s Snakepit” the
ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist was yet to release a proper solo
album, until now. The 14 track album includes guest vocals on
every track from artists such as M-shadows (Avenged
Sevenfold), Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) to Ozzy Osbourne and
Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead)
As expected from Slash, the guitar work is superb, creating a
range of sounds from hard rock, to bluesy, to everything in
between, Slash just adds more factors as to why he may be in-
fact the greatest guitarist with us today.
On the vocal side, I find the album is more of a hit and miss,
some of the collaborations work, and are enthused, whereas
others just fall under the line.
The hard driving “Ghost” featuring Ian Astbury and Izzy
Straddlin, and “Doctor Alibi” grunted by Lemmy Kilmister are
definite key songs on the album, these vocalist’s seem to work
a charm with the work of Slash along side.
“Beautiful Dangerous” featuring Fergie is a hit and miss track,
Fergie’s vocals certainly fit within the genre, but she is trying to
be too Axl-esk in my opinion. Maroon 5's Adam Levine is
wimpy and out of place on the 7th track of the album, "Gotten",
I find that it aims for "November Rain" but ends up feeling
pretty soggy.
Recommended tracks: Nothing To Say – Featuring M-
Shadows, and Ghost Featuring Izzy Straddlin and Ian
Astbury.
