| With only listening to the Cancer Bat’s album shortly before the gig, I was quite intrigued to see this band live. The band stormed into their set full of energy and played each song just as tight as the recordings on there album, with gut busting vocals and crushing guitar riffs. The Cancer Bat’s showed there appreciation to Talent for the support slot, with Liam Cormier (Vocals) thanking Billy Talent and the audience before doing a running jump into the constant moshing crowd, a brilliant warm up for Talent. Having only seeing Billy Talent before on outdoor tents and stages I was looking forward to seeing the band play a more intimate environment, so to was the crowd, this was later proven with the audience almost fighting to get as close to the stage as the possibly could to see the Canadian Power- rockers. Talent ripped through their set playing classics such as “Devil in the Midnight Mass” and “Fallen Leaves”. The crowd getting so involved that the show had to be stopped, as an audience member broke their leg in the mosh-pitt. Ben Kowalewicz (Vocals) helped the staff being humble and showing great respect to the crowd. Even with the hour and a half gap waiting for an ambulance for the injured fan, Billy Talent soon interrupted the silence jumping back into the show with “Rusted by the Rain”, with no signs of earlier illness which led to postponing earlier northern shows. Billy Talent pulled off a triumphant monster of a show leaving fans wanting more finishing the show with “Red Flag”. |
| Billy Talent / 21st October 2009 02 Academy (Sheffield) Writer: Cora Preece Billy Talent haven't been having a great time as of late, with there 2009 tour being held back 2 dates due to illness, this string of ill-fate was sadly to continue to tonights gig, with not even this date running smoothly with the Talent boys having there set interrupted half way through due to a fan injury. Thankfully, the show must go on as they say, and after the slight delay the band hit the stage again, ready to impress. |
