7pm and the crowd was already buzzing as 'Sonic Boom
Six' busted on to the stage, with a style of Hip Hop mixed
with Ska. The Manchester band impressed with their
catchy songs such as, “Piggy in the Middle” and “Sound
of a Revolution”

They had the crowd constantly moving and filled the
room with lots of energy. Sonic Boom Six was a band that
I only heard of by name before, but with the release of
their third album I believe they have now stole the hearts
of many Ska fans out there.

Next to the stage, was Big D and the Kids Table. The
unique eliment to this band was sure to be their 2 female
backing vocalists. I was looking forward to a Ska band
with difference and an edge; however songs were
produced with a familiar style, and nothing really stud
out, but never the less the band seemed to entertain the
crowd and kept up the upbeat atmosphere.
Reel Big Fish
Rock City (Nottingham)
27th Jan 2010
Review By: Cora Preece

On the 27th January, Nottingham was the place to be, because it was
the home for the “Ska Odyssey” as 100s of fans eagerly waited
outside to see Reel Big Fish hit the stage.
Finally Reel Big Fish broke the stage full of power and
liveliness, opening with “Sell Out” then moving straight on to
their next hit “Trendy”.  When the band introduced
themselves, the crowd went wild, showing that Reel Big Fish
didn’t need any introduction that night. The set carried on
playing original songs such as “She has a Girlfriend Now”
and “Don’t Start a Band”, and also songs from their cover
albums such as, “Take on Me”, “Brown Eyed Girl” and “Mr
Sandman”, that night it didn’t matter who the composer was
Reel Big Fish performed the songs with energy and the
crowd danced and sang along to each word.

The band left the stage, but the room didn’t go quiet as the
fans stood up and demanded for them to come back on stage
to play just one more song, the words “Reel Big Fish” being
chanted loudly and proud throughout the venue. Reel Big
Fish came back to play an encore, first they play “S.R” this
song was not just played in their Ska Punk style, they
entertained the crowd with alternative endings such as
metal, country and old school hip hop. They wrapped up the
show playing “Beer”, where the crowd danced and moshed
with lots of energy. Reel Big Fish went off stage after playing
a memorable set, whilst the crowd went home rather sweaty,
but estatic.
