Bio -
Phil Campbell, born in Scotland, is somewhat of an enigma, he was born
into a family of lay preachers (his father) and hymn writers (his
grandmother)

Phil Campbell has had an interesting record label history, being signed to
WEA, EMI (twice) and Universal within a few short years, and this unrest is
evident in album 'Joy'. In his latest work, the album 'After the Garden', this
theme is continued.

Campbell is backing up his release with a UK tour, and 'No Love Songs' is
the second single release after 'Maps (How I Feel About You)'.

Track Review -
An upbeat, summery song which provides easy listening. With an acoustic
guitar backing up his soft, slightly edgy vocal, the song is simple yet
catchy. The addition of piano and overdriven guitar phrases fill out the
sound, whilst the piano leads the chorus with a slight change of urgency.

His voice reminds me somewhat of James Blunt, which gives a good idea
on whether you will like the song, and indeed the album. However, certain
riffs such as the piano bridge also sticks in your head, and make it worth a
listen.

8/10 Easy listening summer song!
