Hawkwind, Wilko Johnson and the Dub Pistols Set To headline Off The Tracks Spring Festival 2012.

Set To Headline Saturday: HAWKWIND

Also joining the bill at Donington Park Farm, Derbyshire, over the weekend of May 25-27 will be the Warsaw Village Band, with many more artists still to be announced.

And respected psytrance specialists Cabbage, from Leeds, will once again be taking over the Barn Stage.

HAWKWIND are in many ways the quintessential English rock band, and one of the earliest space rock groups. Their lyrics favour urban and science fiction themes. Born from the free festival movement, they were a noted precursor to punk rock and are considered a link between the hippie and punk cultures.

Formed in November 1969 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Dave Brock, Hawkwind have gone through many incarnations and styles of music. Dozens of musicians have worked with the group; fantasy and science fiction writer Michael Moorcock was an occasional collaborator.

Hawkwind spent much of 2011 in the studio, followed by a short run of UK dates which saw them joined by fiddler Jon Sevink (Levellers). A new album will be released in spring 2012.

When rock’n'roll was shaken from its pre-punk complacency by the emergence of Dr Feelgood, it was their guitarist WILKO JOHNSON who excited most attention, not only for the startling violence of his stage performance (which was to inspire countless imitators and become one of the classic images of rock\’n\’roll) but also for his guitar style which combined the roles of lead and rhythm guitar in driving riffs and a stuttering machine gun frenzy which altered conceptions of ‘guitar heroics’.

As a songwriter too from early Feelgood favourites like \’Back in the Night\’ to the power and poetry of \’Dr Dupree\’ and \’Sneaking Suspicion\’ he has proved himself one of the best and most original exponents of rhythm\’n\’blues styles this side of the Atlantic.

The list of bands who acknowledged the influence of Wilko and the Feelgoods is extensive and includes The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Jam, The Boomtown Rats, and across the Atlantic, The Ramones and Blondie.

After his abrupt departure from Dr Feelgood in 1977 Wilko worked with Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Since 1999, the classic Wilko Johnson Band has rarely been off the road, blasting audiences from Helsinki to Madrid, Aberdeen to Istanbul, and Toulouse to Tokyo.

From their early singles for Concrete Records to their genre-defying Six Million Ways To Live album, the DUB PISTOLS have always added a much needed rockn roll swagger to the UKs dance scene. Chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska and punk, and spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank they have consistently defied genres and exceeded the highest of expectations.

Their genre-mashing abilities have led to remix work for the likes of Moby, Crystal Method, Limp Bizkit, Bono, Korn and Ian Brown, and seen them work with hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes on One, a track for Blade 2 and Molotov on the Y Tu Mama Tambien soundtrack.

In recent years the band has mutated from a studio based duo into a fully-fledged live act often featuring the talents of guest vocalists Rodney P, Specials front man Terry Hall, rap wunderkind TK, Sugardaddy horn-blower Tim Hutton and scratch maestro DJ Stix.

WARSAW VILLAGE BAND are a symbol of young, intelligent Eastern European music which combines traditions with modern elements and is capable of eliciting enthusiastic responses from rock audiences and traditionalists alike. They’ve been referred to, among other things, as the Polish Pogues. Their music has established itself in Europe and the world.

The New York Times said: \”Traditional Polish songs, with their cutting vocals and meshed fiddles are the foundation of Warsaw Village Band\’s repertory. But while their line-up is primarily acoustic – hand drums, hammered dulcimer, violins, and cello – their sensibilities are modern. They hear dance-club drive and trancey echoes in the songs and they use recording studio techniques to heighten the central drones and eerie percussive sounds in their songs. Hints of reggae and guests like a scratching disc jockey should further infuriate purists.

CABBAGE one of the UKs most respected and long-running psytrance nights will once again be taking over the Off The Tracks barn stage, bringing the psychedelic side of trance, techno and downbeat to the late night audience.

Off The Tracks Spring Festival is at Donington Park Farm, Isley Walton, near Castle Donington from May 25-27.

The full line-up will include around 40 artists on two stages, as well as 70+ real ales, ciders and perries, excellent camping facilities and a great, family friendly atmosphere.

Weekend tickets are now on sale priced £70 (inc camping).
Youth tickets are £40 (12-16 years old, inc camping).
Admission is free for under-12s.

VINTAGE TROUBLE TO SUPPORT
TEENAGE CANCER TRUST ON UK TOUR

After collecting guest list donations for Teenage Cancer Trust and visiting our unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital during their UK tour at the end of 2011, we’re very pleased to announce that Los Angeles four-piece Vintage Trouble will be supporting Teenage Cancer Trust again this summer.

Not only will the band be collecting guest list donations once again at their forthcoming UK headlining shows (see dates below), but they will be offering a very special and extremely limited sound check package to six lucky fans at their London show at Bush Hall on June 01st. In return for a £10 donation to Teenage Cancer Trust, fans will be able to watch the band sound check and meet them before doors open.

To avoid disappointment, fans should email music@teenagecancertrust.org with ‘VINTAGE TROUBLE, LONDON’ as the subject title. This is a first come first served opportunity and donations will be taken in advance. Times are to be confirmed.

ABOUT VINTAGE TROUBLE

Vintage Trouble are a new band from Los Angeles with an electrifying sound steeped in classic soul, blues and rock ‘n’ roll.

In 2011 the band exploded onto the UK music scene; after just three shows in the UK in early 2011, the band returned in April to appear on Jools Holland‘s late night TV show Later… with Jools Holland. The band became the sixth most trending topic of the day on Twitter worldwide, attained the #13 best-selling digital album on iTunes, and had the #5 all around best-selling digital album on Amazon UK, beating out both Rihanna and the current Glee (TV series) albums. Additionally, VT had the #2 best selling digital rock album on Amazon.com UK, and the #1 best selling R&B digital album on Amazon UK.

Their debut album ‘The Bomb Shelter Sessions’ was released last year to widespread critical acclaim, with their relentless touring schedule seeing them appear at Hard Rock Calling, Wireless festival and supporting Bon Jovi amongst other highlights. The end of 2011 saw the band pick up Best New Band at the Classic Rock awards and vocalist Ty Taylor was invited by Brian May to sing at Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday celebrations.

The band formed in Feb 2010 with Ty Taylor, guitarist Nalle Colt, bassist Rick Barrio Dill and drummer Richard Danielson. Key influences include Ike and Tina Turner, Otis Redding, James Brown and The Rolling Stones.

ABOUT TEENAGE CANCER TRUST

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day.  We build specialist units within NHS hospitals bringing young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed just for them. We want every young person with cancer to have access to this specialist support, no matter where they live.

Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated during treatment, some never meeting another young person with cancer.  Being treated alongside others their own age can make a huge difference to their whole experience.

Teenage Cancer Trust also educates young people and health professionals about cancer to ensure a swift diagnosis and referral to specialist support. Cancer in young people is rare but we want young people to know the common signs and symptoms so they can seek medical advice if they are worried.

We rely solely on donations to fund our vital work. You can help transform the lives of young people with cancer. Visit www.teenagecancertrust.org to find out how.

Teenage Cancer Trust is a registered charity, no. 1062559 (England and Wales) and SCO39757 (Scotland).

Tragedy (All Metal Tribute To The Bee Gees) Add Extra Date: Manchester Fab Cafe 22nd May 2012!

New Album ‘Humbled by our Greatness’ available on iTunes now

UK Tour May/June 2012

Tragedy: All Metal Tribute to the Bee Gees (and Beyond) is currently the # 1 heavy metal tribute to the Bee Gees (and beyond)
Hailing from New York City, Tragedy first came to decimate the people of the United Kingdom in 2008, as the support band for British cult rockers The Wildhearts. At the end of that tour, Tragedy supported Electric Six at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London City, during which 2,500 kids moshed to Stayin’ Alive, and after which Tragedy scored a whole new UK tour with Electric Six because their agent was so impressed, Also after which, at the VIP after party where a few of the guys from Electric Six were spinning, Tragedy’s drummer scored a blow from the girlfriend of one of Tragedy’s biggest fans, after which Tragedy fired that drummer because the fan was so upset at being cuckolded by his favourite band, but actually not really for that, it was mainly because we all hated that drummer and needed a pre-text to fire him.  Anyway, a few months after that monumental night at Shepherd’s Bush, Tragedy embarked on a whole new UK tour with Electric Six, and in the process outsold Electric Six on merch and was never invited back to tour with them again. That could also possibly have something to do with the fact that Tragedy’s new drummer threatened a promoter with a serious ass kicking after said promoter screwed us out of $100 and then Electric Six’s tour manager got really pissed.  Nevertheless, they all remain friends (Electric Six that is, not the promoter or the tour manager).

Since that time, Tragedy has kept returning to the UK to force their magic upon the unsuspecting peoples of said country, including but not limited to an opening position for Motorhead at Guilfest, and 2 headlining tours all across the UK, this May 2012 being their fourth headlining tour.  There was a third headlining tour somewhere in there too, but all records have been lost.  Although at one point Robin Gibbens did score a blow from a 50 year old, after which he went down and signed her 16-year-old daughter’s Tragedy poster, after which he went back to the hotel and had Skype sex with his girlfriend who he really missed. Anyway, Tragedy is back in the UK with a new record:  Humbled by Our Greatness.  They have extended the Bee Gees catalogue to include other period pieces, such as Xanadu and shit. If you want to see Tragedy in the lime light and glitter, you can see them in May at:

Wednesday 23rd May – The Brickyard, Carlisle City
Thursday 24th May – O2 ABC, Glasgow
Friday 25th May – O2 Academy, Newcastle
Saturday 26th May – O2 Academy Sheffield
Sunday 27th May – Sin City, Swansea

Adam Ant To Replace The Levelers At This Years BEARDED THEORY

600full-adam-ant

Adam Ant And The Good The Mad And The Lovely Posse will be the new headlining act at Bearded Theory replacing Levelers – who had to cancel their festival appearances until July after fiddle player Jon Sevink needed surgery.

Adam Ant and his band will be headlining Bearded Theory Festival in Derby on Friday 18th May. They are a late replacement for the Levellers, who had been forced to withdraw less than 5 weeks before the festival, due to injury.

Though he stepped away from the limelight for a number of years, Adam Ant returned to regular live performance in 2010, and ‘Prince Charming’ has enjoyed a massive resurgence in his career. With his group Adam and the Ants he was one of the pioneers of the new wave/post-punk movement, enjoying considerable success with hits including ‘Stand and Deliver’, ‘Goody Two Shoes’, and ‘Ant Rap’.

Steve Blount from Bearded Theory says, “We are delighted to be welcoming Adam Ant & the Good, the Mad & the Lovely Posse to headline Bearded Theory Festival. To find a high-quality replacement headline act with just four weeks before the festival was a tall order, so we are incredibly excited to have secured a performance from such an iconic artist as Adam Ant at this short notice. We wish Jon from the Levellers a speedy recovery and look forward to them hosting them at Bearded Theory at a future date.”

eFestivals believes Levellers have already agreed in principle to headline the event next year.

The Damned, and Dreadzone will also be headlining Bearded Theory which takes place from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th May 2012 at Kedleston Hall Park, Derby, in Derbyshire. Wheatus, System 7, The Ashan Project, Astralasia, Banco De Gaia, Terrorvision, Mad Dog Mcrea, Tarantism, Martin Harley Band, Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs, Leatherat, The True Deceivers, Show of Hands, Chumbawamba, Radical Dance Faction (RDF), The Selecter, The Urban Voodoo Machine, Credit to The Nation, The Popes, Random Hand, Kissmet, Imperial Leisure, Ferocious Dog, WitchDoktors, Rasta4Eyes, The Travelling Band, RoughNeck Riot, Tracy Jane Sullivan, Cracked Actors, Boot Hill All Stars, Karl Phillips & The Midnight Ramblers, Pronghorn, Back to the Planet, Los Albertos, and King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys, and more.

Bearded Theory has also confirmed details of a number of exciting changes for 2012. These include a creation of two entirely new areas; Tornado Town (a festival within a festival), and The Water’s Edge. Underlining their commitment to supporting local businesses, the festival have appointed Thornbridge Brewery in Bakwell, (located just 20 miles from the festival), to run their on-site bars.

Tickets are now on sale with a weekend ticket priced at £74, 13-16 weekend tickets are priced at £40, 6-12 weekend tickets are priced at £25, children aged 5 and under are free and Family Tickets are priced at £190 (2 x adult & 2 x children). All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. No day tickets will be released for sale for the 2012 festival.

NEW SINGLE “HEADLONG FLIGHT” LANDS AT
ROCK RADIO ON APRIL 19TH

NEW YORK, NY (APRIL 11, 2012) – Legendary rock band Rush have unveiled details of its highly anticipated, new album, “CLOCKWORK ANGELS.”   This is the renowned trio’s first new collection of original material in over five years and their first studio release via Anthem/Roadrunner Records. “CLOCKWORK ANGELS,” the band’s 20th studio album, will be released in the UK on June 11th (see attached track listing).

In the UK, the album will be released on June 11th in exclusive Classic Rock Fan Pack form – providing a unique collectible package containing the 12 track studio album alongside a specially created magazine with unseen behind-the-scenes content put together by Classic Rock. The Fan Pack cover will also feature brand new exclusive artwork from Rush’s longtime collaborator Hugh Syme (who also designed the Clockwork Angels artwork). The Fan Pack format will also come with free gifts including a  ltd ed Clockwork Angels keyring & artwork poster and will be available to buy via more than 2000 retail outlets on newsstands nationally as well as the traditional high street and online music retailer. The Fan Pack is available for pre-order now HERE, where all early bird orders will receive a personalised Rush poster.  Roadrunner Records will simultaneously release the record digitally. The standard physical release of the Rush album will follow through Roadrunner Records on July 9th 2012.

The recording of “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” began in April 2010 with Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones) – who also collaborated with the band on their last studio album, 2007’s “SNAKES & ARROWS.”  Rush co-produced both records.  The first two songs, “Caravan” and “BU2B,” were completed during that first session at Nashville’s Blackbird studios and performed nightly during the wildly successful Time Machine Tour, which ran from June 2010 to June 2011.  Work on “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” resumed in the fall of 2011 at Revolution Recording in Toronto after the tour’s finale, with additional strings (arranged by David Campbell) recorded at Hollywood’s Ocean Way Studios earlier this year.  Lyrically, “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” chronicles a young man’s quest across a lavish and colorful world of steampunk and alchemy as he attempts to follow his dreams.  The story features lost cities, pirates, anarchists, an exotic carnival, and a rigid Watchmaker who imposes precision on every aspect of daily life.  The novelization of “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” is being written by science fiction writer Kevin J. Anderson in collaboration with Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.

Rush will herald the release of “CLOCKWORK ANGELS” with a new single “Headlong Flight” landing at rock radio on April 19th.  Details of a full-scale North American tour to support the new album will be announced shortly.

Incoming Release: Japanese Sci Fi /Alt-Rockers MOLICE – Neugravity (April 17th)

Molice Release Their 3rd Album Neugravity April 17 on Good Charamel Records

Check out their new Music Video for “Please, Please, Pris” at: http://tinyurl.com/77g4ajr

On April 17 Japanese Sci Fi /Alt-Rockers MOLICE release their 3rd album Neugravity and re-release their debut effort Doctor Ray, via Good Charamel Records in North America . The band also contributes two songs to Good Charamel’s just-released I Love J-Rock 2 compilation, where they appear alongside some of Japan’s best female fronted rock bands, such as Shonen Knife, TsuShiMaMiRe, LAZYgunsBRISKY and the label’s latest signing, tricot. I Love J-Rock 2 is out today, April 10.

MOLICE’s Neugravity retains the band’s raw rock sound punctuated by clever hooks, and lyrically goes deeper into sci-fi. Blade Runner in particular seems to have been an influence, demonstrated by songs titled “Rachel”, “Please Please Pris” and “Tomei Mamire” (Wiped Clean). Rambunctious rock, robots and romance? Welcome to the wonderful world of MOLICE.

MOLICE are a modern Japanese band who draw inspiration from 70’s punk’s DIY spirit, 80’s new wave and power pop as well as 90’s unchained indies guitar rock. While many Japanese bands are the product of management hired producers and stylists, MOLICE have gone their own indie way, and created their own sound from a wide and unlikely combination of influences. Music writers have scrambled to find comparisons, with the Pixies and the Pretenders coming up most often.

The band was formed in 2007 by the charismatic female singer/rhythm guitarist Rinko, high tension guitarist Yuzuru Takeda, and rock solid drummer Takeshi Koyama. Just months after coming they were invited to play Summer Sonic, one of Japan ’s biggest festivals.

After a year of polishing their material playing Tokyo ’s numerous rock venues, the band made their recorded debut in November 2008 with their album ‘Doctor Ray’. The album quickly drew attention amongst Japanese rock fans, and surprisingly, substantial acclaim from abroad. The singles “White Vertigo”, “Ms. Panic” and “Headphone” found their way into rotation on numerous US college radio stations. Good Charamel Records proudly re-releases this classic album in North America on April 17.

Their sophomore effort Catalystrock was released in March 2010 and caught the attention of Good Charamel Records, who released the album in North America with bonus remixes included.
